HORSERIDING WITH CAMPING

Cabalgatas Gauchas Salta

The option for people with our without previous experience who would like to have a better insight into the Gaucho culture. You will share our daily life and experience the tranquility of the valleys and mountains, becoming part of the nature of the region. You will spend the nights in tents around campfires in fields and mountains.

Two day rides:

Day One:
We pick you up at your hotel by jeep and head uphill to the La Quesera Valley. We visit the ancient convent of the valley where the ride starts. Before setting off, we will talk about security, the horses and the correct way to saddle and ride them.
In the main house of the Finca, we will have a traditional BBQ lunch with salads and local wines.

After a digestion break, we will ride through the La Quesera Valley and over the hills into the De la Cruz Valley. There, we will visit the ancient headquarters of General Güemes and his Gaucho soldiers. We will continue towards Los Balcones, where we will have a beautiful view over the Del Chamical Valley, and spend the first night camping around the fire.

Day Two:
After breakfast we will break camp and ride into the Del Chamical Valley. We will visit the church and cemetary of the valley where General Güemes was burried for one year. We will continue through the Del Toronal Gorge, riding through forests and mountains, and take a break beside a mountain stream, where we will make an offering to Pachamama. We will share a BBQ with the local Gauchos and continue through magnificent landscape on the way back to the La Quesera Valley through the De los Churquis Mountain Pass. Back at the Finca, we will have a snack before going back to Salta.

Three day ride:

Day One:

We pick you up at your hotel by jeep and head uphill to the La Quesera Valley. We visit the ancient convent of the valley where the ride starts. Before setting off, we will talk about security, the horses and the correct way to saddle and ride them.
Before setting out, we will have a traditional BBQ with salads and local wines. After a break, we will ride through the La Quesera Valley, crossing the hills into the De La Cruz Valley, where we will visit the ancient headquarters of General Güemes. We will continue to Los Balcones, where we will have a beautiful view over the Del Chamical Valley and camp the first night, cooking dinner over the fire.


Day Two:
After breakfast, we will break camp, saddle the horses and ride to the Del Pedernal Gorge and the Cuesta Blanca, gaining hight on the way while crossing through the Yungas Jungle. On the Luzco’s Finca, we will take a break and cook lunch with the local Gauchos. After a siesta, we will continue on horseback towards the top of the mountains where we will have a beautiful view over the Lerma Valley in the west and the Siancas Valley in the east.

Riding along the mountain ridge, we might spot the great Condor on the way to La Apacheta, where we will make an offering to Pachamama. Upon nightfall, we will camp at Paso Verde and cook dinner on the fire.

Day Three:
We will wake up with Mate and break camp before preparing the horses. We will descend the mountains, riding through the valleys of the Yunga in the Del Torontal Gorge, where we will follow a mountain stream. We will take a break for swimming in the crystal clear water and eat a BBQ with the local Gauchos. After a siesta, we will ride back towards the La Quesera Valley through the De los Churquis Mountain Pass. Arriving back at the Finca, we will have a snack with wine before heading back to Salta at around 8 pm.

Included:
- Transfer to/from Salta.
- Bilingual guide.
- Visit of the historic convent and the church of the La Quesera Valley.
- Visit of the Finca La Cruz, the Gaucho museum.
- Tents, sleeping bags and raincoats.
- Meals and drinks.
- BBQ with salads and local wines, vegetarian option upon request.

Schedule:
Departing at 10.00. Two-day ride: return on the 2nd day around 20.00. Three-day ride: return on the 3rd day around 20.00.

What to bring:
Long and comfortable trousers. Good shoes or boots. Two pairs of socks. Torch, wind proof jacket, sun screen. Camera.
